Start with three steps
- Add your real wrapping and greeting cards in Assortment.
- Choose services, appearance and eligibility in Settings, then save.
- Add the Gift options app block and test your storefront cart.
Getting started
How do I set up my first gift option?
Open Settings and choose Start quick setup. Select the services you want to offer, choose a style and apply the result to your draft. Review it, then save. Use Assortment to add the wrapping or cards that you actually provide.
How do I show gift options in the cart?
In Shopify Online Store → Themes, open your theme editor and its Cart template. Add the Gift options app block near checkout and save. Then add an ordinary eligible product to the storefront cart and check the result. Placement depends on your theme; adding a block does not automatically add it to every cart drawer.
Why are gift options missing or unavailable?
Start with an ordinary product in the cart. Check that the Gift options block is present in the theme being viewed, the required service is enabled in Settings, and the options are available in Assortment. Next, check product exclusions and the minimum eligible subtotal in Availability. An empty cart cannot receive a gift on its own.
Will Buy it now show the gift choices?
The gift chooser belongs to the cart. Buy it now and other checkout paths that skip the cart also skip this chooser. Test your store's purchase paths so shoppers know where to add their gift options.
Gift options
How do I add wrapping or a greeting card?
In Assortment, select Gift wraps or Greeting cards. Add a new option with a clear name, image and price, or choose an existing Shopify product. Use a photograph of the actual item you will supply so the customer knows what to expect.
Where can I change the image, name or price?
Choose Edit on an option managed by this app. Save your changes, then check the storefront. A linked Shopify product is labelled in Assortment; edit that product's details in Shopify Products instead.
Can I offer a free card?
Yes. Set the card price to zero. It still appears as a selected gift option and is added as its own zero-price order line. The gift message belongs to the customer's chosen gift configuration.
How do I reorder, disable or remove an option?
Use More actions on its tile in Assortment. Move up or down changes the display order. Disable hides an option from gift choices. Remove takes it out of the assortment and leaves the Shopify product in your store. Use Save changes to apply these assortment changes.
Appearance & rules
How can I change colours without using HEX codes?
Open the appearance section in Settings. Start with a style and a ready-made colour combination, then use the colour picker if needed. HEX entry is optional. Check the sample and any contrast warning before saving.
What do the Availability rules control?
They decide which ordinary products qualify for gift options and whether a minimum eligible subtotal is needed. Excluded products do not contribute to the eligible amount. For example, a cart total can exceed the threshold while its eligible products remain below it. Verify your rule with an eligible product, an excluded product and a mixed cart.
What is saved, and what is just a draft?
Changes in a form remain a draft until Save changes succeeds. The Unsaved changes bar offers Save and Discard. Discard restores the saved values. If a save fails, read the error and retry; navigating away is not a substitute for saving.
Orders & printing
Where is the customer's complete greeting?
Open Gift orders, then select the order number or View full order. The detail page shows the complete message, selected materials and recorded preparation method. The order list shows only a preview of the greeting.
How do I print a greeting?
Open the gift order. When it contains an approved saved print layout and a print font, choose Print on ready card or Print separate insert. The ready-card output prints the greeting without the cover; the insert uses a separate sheet. Your browser opens the print flow for the printer configured on your computer.
How do I choose the correct card size?
Edit the card in Assortment. Choose a standard size or Custom, flat or folded format, orientation and text area to match the actual card. Printer sheet size and offsets are separate settings. Test a print at 100% scale on your own printer before using it for a customer's order.
Why does an older order need a manual print format?
Some older orders do not contain a saved card layout. The detail page asks you to choose and confirm a manual format. That manual format is not a reconstruction of the customer's original preview. Orders with a saved layout keep their recorded dimensions and font.
What about handwritten messages or messages without a card?
Follow the preparation method recorded on the order. For a handwritten greeting, staff must write the full saved text by hand. For a message without a card, check the saved delivery instruction. If an older order has no recorded method, confirm how it should be prepared before fulfilment.
Analytics & billing
What do the analytics totals include?
Analytics separates wrapping and card amounts from analyzed paid orders, after allocated discounts and line refunds, before tax and shipping. Cancelled and unpaid orders are excluded. These are gift option sales, not proof of extra revenue caused by the app. Open Data details for the source and limitations.
Why are Test, Real and partial data shown separately?
Test orders let you verify setup without counting them as real sales. Choose Real to view actual order data. Partial data means the whole requested period could not be covered; read the coverage explanation. Unavailable means data could not be read, not that sales are zero.
Where can I check my subscription?
Open Billing and verify the confirmed subscription in Shopify. Review plan terms before approval. The supplied version restricts commercial plan management to the development store; general merchant onboarding still needs release verification.
